Kongde Base Camp Trek
Kongde Base Camp Trek is a short and easier Himalaya trekking in the Khumbu region. You will trek up the base camp of the Kongde (KwangdeRi) which lies to the northwest of the Namche Bazaar. The trek is a good option to experience the Everest trekking if Everest Base Camp trek is difficult for you and time lacking for it.
The Kongde Base Camp trek journey begins with the first Himalayan flight from Kathmandu to Lukla early in the morning. The flight will be of about 40 minutes to reach Lukla with glorious view of lofty snowcapped Himalayas. From Lukla, the first trek to Kongde base camp starts. It will take 2 days to reach Namche Bazaar (3444m), the main trading center for the Khumbu region with many Nepalese officials, a police check, post and a bank.
Thame, the next place to reach the way still follows the route to Kongde Base Camp. Going ahead from Namche Bazaar to Thame the spontaneous view of Himalayas will be continued. After a quite long walk (about 8- 10 hours) through the rhododendron forest, finally the destination will be reached to the Kongde Base Camp.
Kongde Base Camp at the height of 5050m, it offers the incredible views of the magnificent mountains of the Khumbu valley, namely Mt. Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,501m), Nuptse (7,861m), Lhotse (8,393m), Cho Oyu (8,189m), Ama Dablam (6,856m), Pumori (7,145m), GyachungKhang (7,952m.), (Kala Pattar (5,545m), Island Peak (6,185m), Thamserku (6,808m), Kang Tega (6,685m), Makalu (8,463m), Mera peak (6,461m) and Kongde (6,011m.). The resort further reflects the wonderful view of Sunrise and the sunset to the Grand Mountains. This is the destination where you can finally get what your heart really mean to get from trekking in Nepal.
Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival and meet day at the Kathmandu Airport
First we welcome you to home of Mt. Everest, Nepal, country of Himalayas. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport our representative will welcome you and assists to transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu. You will have to make rest day in Kathmandu. Make permit day and you can look around in Kathmandu valley or make Sightseeing tour in the Kathmandu valley. After time to get refreshed, evening you will meet and transfer for the welcome dinner in any comfortable restaurant in Kathmandu and short briefing about your trip and overnight hotel. We meet early morning and start our trekking trip.
Day 02: Early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2850m), 40 minute and Trek start to Phakding (2610m), 3/4 hour
Early morning we fly from Kathmandu to Lukla more like Himalayan mountain flight of about 40 minutes scenic flight. You will have time to stroll around in Lukla, while the guide sort and divide the load baggage to be carried by the porters. The Guide will manage the lunch place depending upon the time of arrival at the Lukla airport. After lunch, we then start our trekking with an easy walk to Phakding village for the overnight stop and rest of the time stroll around the village for local knowledge.
Day 03: TrekPhakding to Namche Bazaar (3,444m), 5/6 hour
After breakfast we will continue trekking up the banks of the Dudh Kosi River, crossing it twice by small the suspension bridges before reaching the village of Monjo, the entrance gate of the Sagarmatha National Park. While entering the National park boundary we will descend and a gradual walk brings us to the suspension bridge over the Bhote-Koshi River to Jorsalle village, the last village till Namche Bazaar. Namche is a prosperous trading town and the capital of the Khumbu Himalayan Region.
Day 04: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar and visit Everest View Hotel
We will have to spend a day in Namche Bazaar to rest and allowing our bodies to become acclimatized to the altitude of 3,440m. You have full day leisure or visit Everest View Point hotel for the wonderful panoramic view or stroll around the market. On Saturday, you can see many people in the Saturday market for shopping to fulfill their daily needs and only one shopping market in the surrounding areas. Also you can visit Sherpa Museum as well as a great place to learn Sherpa culture and history of mountaineering and stroll back to the hotel for overnight.
Day 05: Trek Namche Bazaar to Thame (3,800m), 4/5 hour
From Namche Bazaar we will start our trek to Thame, a small Sherpa village and close to the Tibet border and look round Monastery in Thame. Explore the village and overnight at hotel.
Day 06: Trek Thame to Kongde Base Camp Trek (5,050m), 8/9 hour
From Thame we start early morning trek to the Kongde Base Camp and takes about 8/9 hour from Thame. That way wonderful sunset panoramic view the great view of the mighty peak of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam,Thamserku and KusumKangru peak with view of the easternsnowcaped mountains,overnight at hotel.
Day 07: Trek back Kongde Base Camp to Phakding, 4/5 Hour.
From KongdeBase Camp we will be low down through the green forest.We see some Himalayan Thar and very good view of the Himalayan ranges, we trek back to Phakding, you can walk at your own pace enjoying the lush green scenery around and passing through the incredible mountain scenery and local Sherpa village in Phakding, overnight at hotel.
Day 08: Trek back Phakding to Lukla, 2/3 hour
Breakfast in Phakding and within few hours we will arrive in Lukla.You will have time to stroll around the area and the guide will be reconfirming your flight ticket.Enjoy the last celebration dinner with your crew member and overnight at Hotel in Lukla.
Day 09: Early morning flight back from Lukla to Kathmandu takes about 40 minute
You can have early morning breakfast and ready to fly back to Kathmandu. Our guide will transfer you to the hotel. You may have to rest and relax after the adventure long journey from the Everest region. You will be greeted by our representative and transferred to the evening cultural program and farewell dinner in a famous Nepali Restaurant, overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Departure from Kathmandu to your home country
See you again wonderful Himalayan country in Nepal. Today is free or last minute you have few hour special shopping for your friend and family to gift, relatives for you until your departure flight to your home country. Or any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you will be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your home country. Hope to see you again Nepal Himalayan country.
