The Annapurna Region is situated to the north of the Pokhara valley. Encompassing the Annapurna Region which includes the first 8000m peak climbed by human, Annapurna I, the deepest river gorge in the world. The Kali Gandaki cuts a path between the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna peaks.
The Annapurna Sanctuary is also situated in the region. The mountain amphitheater encircled by the Himalayan giants in the Annapurna region attracts the trekkers around the world. All these natural wonders have made the Annapurna Region a mesmerizing trekking trail. Since 1985, a model combining environmental conservation and participatory economic development has produced a development success story - the Annapurna Conservation Area project.
