Chitwan Jungle Safari Description
Located beneath the Himalayan foothills in the flat Terai region of Nepal, the dense jungles of Chitwan, abounding with wildlife, was the fabled hunting ground of British kings and Rana Maharajas. Today it is a National Park and the only thing you shoot from is a camera while on elephant back safari. You will pass through jungles filled with various species of animals and birds - the finest wildlife experience in Asia! If you are lucky you may see fresh water Gangetic dolphins. There are about fifty different species of mammals and at least sixty-seven different types of butterflies have been spotted.

Island Jungle is one of Chitwan National Park’s premiere resort established since 1987 offering its visitors an opportunity to view wildlife in probably the best natural habitat in Nepal. Chitwan National Park is situated 90 kilometres Southwest of Kathmandu. Widely acknowledged as one of the best national park in Asia covering a pristine area of 932 sq. km, it is the first national park of the country.
Established in 1973 to preserve a unique ecosystem of significant value to the entire world, the park is situated in the sub-tropical inner ‘Terai lowlands of South-central Nepal. In the northwest section of the park is an island known as the Bandarjhola, which is surrounded by the Narayani River. This unique island consists of riverine forest, tall grassland, marshland, numerous inlets and oxbow lakes. Such a diverse combination of nature found only on this island provides a perfect habitat for wildlife.
It is here that. Accommodations in lodges are on twin sharing basis. To blend with the environment, lighting is done by kerosene lanterns. Electric bulbs with power supplied from a generator are used only in the dining hall. Lodges: The lodges consist of simple styled jungle huts with hot and cold shower facilities.
