The Punakha Winter Trek is best enjoyed from December to February when the region is blanketed in snow. The crisp winter air and snow-covered landscapes create a breathtaking and serene trekking environment.
You'll be accommodated in comfortable winter camps, specially set up for the season. These camps offer warm sleeping arrangements and hearty meals, allowing you to fully embrace the winter trekking experience.
Expect to witness Bhutan's winter wonderland, with snow-capped hills, frozen rivers, and a peaceful ambiance. The trek is moderately challenging, making it suitable for trekkers of various levels. You'll encounter local culture, visit iconic landmarks, and enjoy the thrill of winter trekking in a captivating setting.
Transportation during the trek will primarily involve hiking, as the trails are not accessible by vehicles. You'll traverse the snow-covered paths on foot, creating a deeper connection with the beautiful winter landscape.

Arrive in Paro with panoramic views of the Himalayan Mountains.
Transfer to a hotel for a two-night stay.
Explore Paro's cultural gems, including Drugyel Dzong, Dilgo Khyentshe’s temple, Kichu Lhakhang, and Dungtshe Lhakhang.
Lunch at a local restaurant and visit the National Museum and Rimpung Dzong.
Evening stroll in Paro town.
Trek to Taktshang Monastery, also known as Tiger's Nest.
Enjoy lunch with stunning views.
Return to Paro and drive to Thimphu for an overnight stay.
Explore Thimphu's attractions, including Memorial Chorten, Buddha Statue, Tashichho Dzong, National Library, art schools, museums, hospitals, and monasteries.
Begin the trek near Dechencholing Palace.
Pass villages and reach the campsite above Chamina village.
Trek to Sinchu La Pass, with views of Phajodhing Monastery.
Descend through forests and villages.
Trek through forests, villages, and rice fields.
Continue through villages to the road head at Zomlingthang.
Cross the Pho Chu River and climb to Limukha village for the night.
